The director

Mario Dellapiana was born in Neive in 1962. He graduated in Choral Music and Choir Conducting under the guidance of Maestro Felice Quaranta, and developed his experience under teachers including P. Erdei, S.Carrington and R. Gessi.. As a student he won the "Lodovico Rocca" scholarship. Since 1978 he has led many choral groups such as the 'K2' male choir and the mixed voice ‘Astense’ and ‘Estro Armonico’. He has been a teacher since 1980. In the Liceo Scientifico d’Alba, where he currently works, he has specialized in contemporary  repertoire, and has coordinated and held musical courses for young people, shows, instrumental and vocal competitions, and concerts.

He has directed different choral formations and instrumental ensembles both in Italy and abroad, on one occasion in the presence of His Holiness John Paul II, in the Vatican City. He has written music for theatrical performances.

From 2000 to 2004 he was a member of the board of directors of the Piedmontese Choirs Association.

He is currently choral director of the female ensemble "Officina vocis", the male choir "I fieuj d'la Douja" as well as the Corale San Secondo of the city of Asti.

With the Milanese poetess Alda Merini he produced ‘The poem of the cross’ in Milan cathedral.

In recent years he has directed, amongst other sacred works:

  • Rossini’s "Petite messe solennelle"

  • Pergolesi’s "Stabat mater"

  • Faure’s "Requiem in D minor"

  • Schubert’s "Mass No. 2 in G major"

  • Bach's "Magnificat BWV243a"

  • Puccini's "Gloria Mass”

  • Beethoven's "Mass in C major"

In the spring of 2016 he began a revival of unpublished Piedmontese baroque music working with the musicologist Professor Paolo Cavallo. The first fruits: the concert "Omnes Sitientes" showcasing music by Trabattone, Calderara and Fasoli.
